Reflect, renew, and grow during the Days of Awe.

As we begin a new year, shape your High Holy Day experiences to find wholeness.

Hineni: Here I Am

In our Rosh Hashanah Torah reading, God asks Abraham, “Where are you?” and Abraham responds “Hineni,” here I am. Hineni encompasses much more than physical location. Hineni is a declaration of spiritual and emotional presence. As we celebrate the High Holy Days in our virtual makom, in person, and in individual reflections, wherever we are physically, hineni, we are here, together in community.

About In-Person Events

We are excited to offer opportunities to come together for small, socially distant gatherings. In-person, outdoor events are weather dependent. We are monitoring state
requirements and will adapt our plans accordingly. Registration is required for in-person events and space is limited.

In adherance with state-mandated and TBE-approved social distancing requirements, we appreciate you keeping 6 feet of distance between households and wearing masks. Questions about safety practices for in-person events? Contact Stephen Ashkinos, Executive Director, Administration and Operations.

If you’re coming to TBE for an in-person event, we invite you to bring cans of salmon or boxes of cereal that we will donate to Jewish Family and Children’s Services as a part of our Family Table initiative.

Ongoing Opportunities

Donate to the High Holy Day Hunger Drive

Contribute to organizations that address the urgent need for food in our community, locally, nationally, and internationally. Organizations include Family Table, Family Promise Metrowest, Community Servings, Yad Chessed, Mazon, Leket Israel, and the Rabbi Discretionary Fund, an internal fund at TBE used to help members of our community.

Remember a Loved One

The TBE Book of Remembrance, distributed on Yom Kippur, offers a meaningful way to honor the memory of loved ones while supporting our community. This year, our Yizkor service will be a virtual experience and we plan to introduce our scroll of loved ones through both a traditional and dynamic medium.

Give tzedakah online or contact Gloria Kuris, Development Associate, 781.997.4255. To sign up for the Book of Remembrance online, you’ll need to log in through your member portal.

Submit to the Book of Remembrance by Thursday, September 17.

 Volunteer

As you start thinking about the High Holy Days, we hope you’ll consider dedicating a little time to engage with and support your fellow congregants during September. Opportunities will include calling members, participating in small group Zooms, assembling and/or making special High Holy Day deliveries, offering Zoom support, and more.

Sign up to assemble and deliver shalom baskets, which will include resources and treats for every member of our community.

Request a delivery for your shalom basket.

Enjoy TBE Traditions

It is customary to wear a tallit (prayer shawl) on Kol Nidre as a symbol of the sincerity of repentance. Also, we encourage you to wear white clothing and fabric shoes or sneakers (rather than leather) for Yom Kippur services to symbolize a fresh start to the year.

Repair the World

The High Holy Days are a perfect time to commit to joining the TBE community in service to others, learning, and social justice. Learn more.

Family Table
Family Table is Greater Boston’s only Jewish food pantry. Each month we are responsible for supplying cans of salmon and boxes of whole-grain cereal for families in need. If you’re coming to TBE for an in-person event, we invite you to bring cans of salmon or boxes of cereal, which you can place in our outdoor collection bin. You can also contribute from home by ordering from Family Table’s wish list.

Thank you to Josh Mondshein for the beautiful photos from our All Our Paths Lead to Shalom art project during the High Holy Days last year.
