The TBE Blog

Nestled amid the mountains of New Hampshire, East Hill Farm recently played host to a heartwarming family retreat. Eleven TBE families spent the weekend enjoying all the farm had to offer—gathering farm fresh eggs from the chicken coop, horseback riding, making s’mores, hiking and more. Our vision was to create a sanctuary where families could reconnect, rejuvenate, and connect to the TBE community in a new way.

In addition to the farm activities, our children had a blast playing dodgeball and ping-pong, perfecting arts and crafts projects, and swimming in the indoor pool. For our older kids, who quickly got the lay of the land at the farm, they were able to exercise some welcome independence from their parents. Parents spent time bonding over snacks and drinks while our children played with playdoh, watched a magic show, and engaged in other activities led by the farm’s staff.

The rural setting and communal meals of East Hill Farm also served as a beautiful backdrop for us to enjoy moments of Shabbat celebration together. From welcoming Shabbat with some joyous singing (from some very boisterous children) to saying goodbye with a meaningful Havdalah ceremony in the communal dining room. These moments with the group were an opportunity for us to connect with old friends we had invited to come with us as well as form new bonds that we look forward to fostering in the months to come.

Reflecting on this retreat, it’s clear that East Hill Farm became more than just a venue—it became an extension of TBE, a sanctuary for our community to engage, connect, and form cherished memories.

As we look towards the future, I invite everyone seeking togetherness, belonging, and fun to consider joining us for our next family retreat. Let us continue this tradition of creating shared experiences, laughter, and community together.
