Transformation 101: College Behind Bars Mentoring (Hybrid)

Transformation 101: College Behind Bars Mentoring in the Emerson Prison Initiative

Join us at this community event to spotlight Emerson College’s life-changing bachelor’s degree program for individuals incarcerated in Massachusetts State Prison—and the (also life-changing) opportunities to mentor incarcerated students and support them in reaching their academic and individual potential.

We are honored to welcome Professor Mneesha Gellman, Founder and Director of the Emerson Prison Initiative (EPI), and several EPI graduates, who will share their experiences and insights on the impact of making higher education more accessible to people who are incarcerated, and the transformative journey of EPI students. Amy Benjamin (Partakers Co-Coordinator, College Behind Bars Mentoring for Emerson College) will also discuss exciting opportunities to mentor members of the newest class of EPI students, based at MCI Norfolk.

  • Join us if you want to hear about the transformative power of EPI’s education program behind the prison walls—for both EPI’s incarcerated students and for those who teach and mentor them!
  • Join us if you are interested in learning more about the extraordinary experience of mentoring and supporting an EPI student through the Partakers College Behind Bars Mentoring program.
  • Join us if you are a current or former College Behind Bars mentor! Let’s connect, support, and celebrate our community of mentors, and please bring a friend—you are our best ambassadors for the CBB mentor program!
