The Berkshires

Take part in top-quality learning in the beautiful Berkshires with familiar faces from TBE!

Join Hannah Kearney at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (Wednesday, July 24, 10:00 am–5:00 pm) for a day of Jewish contemplative practice on the 18th of Tammuz, the start of the Jewish penitential season culminating on Yom Kippur. This is a time for growing in awareness of sh’virah, the cracks in ourselves and in our world and, simultaneously, of Shleimut, the innate wholeness permeating Creation. We’ll explore this theme through song, silence, Jewish mindfulness meditation, text study, and middot practice. This program is offered free of charge. Dinner with TBE congregants will follow. For more information please click here. Dinner with TBE congregants to follow.

Then, join Rabbi Vanessa Harper for all or part of the HUC-JIR Weekend of Jewish Ideas (Thursday, July 25, 6:00pm–Sunday, July 28, 4:00pm) with a special TBE-only Shabbat service and dinner on Friday night. This event will provide engaging programs on and around Shabbat exploring roots and reinventions of Jewish life. You can read more about the weekend here.

You are welcome to take part in as much or as little of these two retreats as you wish; feel free to add your own Berkshires adventures, or stop in when picking up, dropping off, or visiting a child at Eisner or Crane Lake camps! Both of these retreats are run by outside organizations and are still in the planning process. If you’re interested in possibly taking part in either or both, fill out our interest form by clicking the purple button above so that we can keep you up to date on developments and help you plan.
