About Will
Hello Temple Beth Elohim, I’m Will Slater!

Sports, in my opinion, are super fun and my favorite sport is basketball. I enjoy playing on a few basketball teams and love the excitement of the sport. For my Newton team, I play with someone else who goes to our temple named Lucas Allen.

In my family I have two brothers named Ryan and Quinn, one mom and one dad, and two dogs called Wheatley and Henry. My brothers and I like to play games and sports together – we always have fun.

I go to Brown Middle School in Newton and my favorite subject is History because of many reasons. First, I have many friends in my History class. Second,  my History teacher is super nice and always creates an amazing lesson. Finally, in History it is extremely interesting to learn about ancient civilizations such as Ancient Mesopatamia and Ancient Egypt.

To me a Bar Mitzvah means connecting to many of my ancestors because my entire family is Jewish. I know my parents, some of my grandparents, and people in countless previous generations have done this coming of age ceremony. The volunteer work I am participating in changes depending on the week. Recently, I have helped Daniel’s table, played games at Hebrew Seniorlife, made Thanksgiving meals for Boston Children’s Hospital, and much more. At first I was nervous about everything I had to do in preparation for my Bar Mitzvah, but now I see that becoming a Bar Mitzvah is an experience that is amazing and the memories will last a lifetime.
