RJI Quarterly: Eyewitness Testimonials of Desegregation and Busing (Hybrid)

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Desegregation of Boston Public Schools (BPS) and Judge Garrity’s 1974 order to integrate the schools by busing students. Join us as we welcome Phyllis Ellison-Feaster, one of the first students bused from Roxbury to South Boston High School in September 1974. Joining Phyllis is Ira Jackson, Chief of Staff for Mayor White who was upfront and personal with all the events of this turbulent time. Hear the aftermath of Judge Garrity’s order and the lingering effects on BPS and suburban schools today. Please also join us to watch The Busing Battleground documentary at home or at TBE on March 7.

Registration: This event is available in person and on Zoom. To join us, please click the appropriate purple bar above to register.
