Art Sale to Benefit Israeli Artists (In Person)

  • Sunday, January 21, 2024
  • 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM

Join Kolbo and the TBE community for a very special art sale to benefit Israeli artists. Kolbo will bring jewelry, gift items, and art for sale, all produced by Israeli artists. We will have a limited supply on hand, but will place orders for any quantity desired once these sell out. Additional items (not currently in stock) can be ordered and picked up either at TBE or Kolbo once they have arrived from Israel. In doing this, the artists will continue to have a steady stream of work coming in over the next few months.

Kolbo is committed to supporting these artists who have been such a rich part of the fabric of the store for so many years, while TBE has such deep and meaningful connections to Israel, and is committed to supporting Israel in so many ways. Together, we have created a very special and unique opportunity for the Jewish community to come together to support individuals in Israel who enrich our lives with their beautiful Judaica. Together, we can make a real difference for the lives of these special Israeli artists.

Sponsored by TBE and Kolbo Fine Judaica of Brookline.

Registration is not required to attend this event.

While the war in Israel continues, the economic toll on many Israelis has been unprecedented. Israeli artists, who rely heavily on local tourism in Israel, are particularly affected by the economic changes associated with war. So many of the artists who produce much of the judaica, art, and jewelry that is sold at Kolbo Fine Judaica of Brookline are Israeli artists, and many have shared their stories of their struggles since the war. One artist shared that he is in IDF uniform each night, securing the Israeli border, and by day struggling to keep his art business afloat. Another artist asked if they could continue to receive orders, because they need the work now more than ever. Others have lost their studios in southern Israel and are trying to work in makeshift production spaces. Still others have children in the army, and are hanging by a thread waiting for the news of the day. Most are anxious for work to fill the void of their days. Many have lost friends and loved ones. And all are struggling to make ends meet as tourism in Israel has completely vanished, and will likely be gone for quite some time
