  • All Day Event
TBE travelers on the Civil Rights Journey stand in front of the Edmund Pettus Bridge

In 2019, the Racial Justice Initiative sponsored TBE’s first Civil Rights Journey to explore not only the poignant history of the Civil Rights Movement but also the continuing legacy of slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and mass incarceration today. Unanimously described as a transformative experience by the 200 congregants who have traveled together since 2019, The trip will include visits to the Rosa Parks Museum, the Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum and the Lynching Memorial, The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and the King Center among other highlights. We will attend Shabbat services at Montgomery’s Temple Beth Or, and Sunday morning services at MLK’s Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Registration: Information on registration will be available closer to the trip date.

Sponsored by the Racial Justice Initiative: TBE’s Racial Justice Initiative works to increase our understanding and activism to address ongoing discrimination and inequality.
