Stand Up for Gun Safety | Call to Action to Protect MA’s Lifesaving Gun Laws (In Person)
- Sunday, January 26, 2025
- 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM
- Join us in person
The Giffords Law Center recently named Massachusetts as the safest state in the country with the lowest gun violence death rate, one of five states receiving an “A” grade! This enhanced rating is attributable to the Commonwealth’s landmark passage of an omnibus gun violence prevention law in August. Not unexpectedly but distressing nonetheless, this legislation was immediately challenged by the NRA’s MA affiliate, GOAL (Gun Owners Action League), resulting in a November 2026 ballot initiative to overturn this groundbreaking law.
Although November seems far away, now is the time for action and you can make a difference! Join TBE, Temple Isaiah, and Temple Aliyah in a conversation with two leaders of the MA Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence: Ruth Zakarin, Executive Director and Mark Scott, Board President to learn about this issue and how we can keep MA safe from gun violence. Following their remarks and opportunities for questions, we will share some initial plans for approaching the work ahead, including adopting a community-based approach working alongside interfaith and interracial partners to defeat the November 2026 ballot initiative.
