This poem is my response to “what can I learn from my story of the past several months?”
THE PARTISAN
by Alan Silken
I wade up to my waist
through these days
no idea step to step
what barrier before me
will take a bite of flesh
leave me wilted on the vine
thin veins of light
seep through my clothes
enlighten my vision with illusions
splendid romps beneath the waves
that crash with sea foam
into blue oblivion
I drink the salt water
then submerge myself
like a sea mammal
freedom soon will come.
