The TBE Blog

Many of us may be aware of the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which implores us to adapt quickly so that the future is livable, maybe even a little better. For us, Climate Central’s modeling of the devastating impact of even 1.5C warming in Boston is the most compelling visual reminder of the catastrophic consequences of continued inaction.

While many of us feel anxiety around this, we may also feel paralyzed. In the face of the enormous scale of the problem, our actions may seem inconsequential, the options seem opaque, and we’re not sure to whom to turn for advice. But we know choices make a world of difference; and collectively we can amplify that impact. We can share suggestions with one another; we can elect committed lawmakers; and we can influence our towns, companies, neighbors, friends, and co-workers to become aware and able to act.

To help us take the next step and have some fun in the process, our Green Team is launching an initiative on a community engagement platform developed as a partnership between MassEnergize and the Jewish Climate Action Network funded by a grant from CJP, which educates and enables member households to take action and visualize our collective impact. Actions range from improving the energy efficiency of our homes, eating less meat, composting food waste, greening our transportation, and engaging in advocacy. Each month we will celebrate our individual and collective climate actions. We look forward to learning and taking action together.
