TBE’s Community Voice

Sandy and my story includes the emotional, psychological and physical journey of selling our beloved home of 33 years and preparing to move to our new home.  What has brought us the most joy is all the memories of our daughters, Stephanie and Jacquelyn, growing up  and that we have been so blessed to have these two, now grown, wonderful women as our beloved daughters.  In the final weeks of packing, we have found and looked through so many photos of Sandy and me, Stephanie, and Jacquelyn that were taken over the past 33 years, many of which we have never even seen before. The greatest blessing for our family has been that we have all been well and safe since March and that we are passing into a new phase in our forty-seven years of marriage with the love and support of each other and of our family and friends.

It is so hard to believe that it was only last summer we were in Peru and Ecuador at Machu Picchu and sailing in the Galapagos Islands; then onto Kauai in December with our daughter, Jacquelyn  and then we were in Florida last January with my cousins right before Covid became the reality of our world.   We had planned a trip this summer to celebrate Sandy’s 70th birthday in France at the Tour de France bicycle race.

The biggest challenge that Sandy and I have faced is the sadness of not being able to hug and kiss our daughter, Stephanie, who lives in Somerville, or to visit our daughter, Jacquelyn, who lives in San Diego.  We have also faced great sadness in saying good-bye to our home where we have so many wonderful memories of our children growing up & of holidays, birthdays & life cycle events that we have celebrated year-after-year with our family & friends.   We have also faced the challenge of not knowing where we were going to live when we move on October 1 because our new home will not be completed until February.  The biggest challenge has been the fear and anxiety of facing these unknowns  in the months ahead.  But we know we have the love and support of our family and friends and that we will face the challenges ahead as we move onto the next adventure in our lives.
