What I Remember: A Family History Writing Workshop (In Person)

Join award-winning author, educator, and documentary storyteller Rachael Cerrotti for a 3-part writing workshop all about family history and memoir. The classes will be a combination of inspiration, conversation, and writing, with a goal of participants leaving each session feeling like they have made progress in mining and recording their memories. Photographs and other forms of visual storytelling will play a special role in guiding some of our prompts.

Through group conversation, we will discuss what to do with competing family stories, the question of whose perspective to write from, and how to confront big topics like grief, immigration and love. We will also consider the responsibility of writing words that will be read by future generations. You do not need to have any writing experience to join this workshop; this program will be geared toward adults, but younger learners comfortable with that level are welcome. Dinner provided!
