Tour of Old Jewish Boston and Why We Left (In Person)

From the turn of the 20th century through the 1960s, the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan were thriving Jewish communities. Explore the famous landmarks—Blue Hill Avenue, the G&G Deli, numerous synagogues—in a walking tour and learn how federal, state, and local housing policies contributed to the exodus to the suburbs and Boston’s segregated neighborhoods. Lew Finfer, long-time community organizer and co-chair of the Boston Desegregation and Busing Initiative 50th Anniversary Committee, will lead our tour that will also include historical highlights of the 60s and 70s Civil Rights Movement in Boston!

Transportation is provided for a fee of $18 per person, and will leave from TBE.
