The Prison-to-College Pipeline Panel (Hybrid)

A Personal and Candid Conversation with Five Formerly Incarcerated Citizens

Following Shabbat services, join us for dinner and a panel discussion. You can also watch via Zoom to participate in this life-changing conversation. Register for dinner by October 9.

Come hear the inspiring and personal stories of five men whom after serving long prison sentences applied for and were accepted in a College Behind Bars program offered by Tufts, Bunker Hill CC, or Emerson College. They will describe their life journeys, including the choices and decisions they made that led to their incarceration. Also discussed will be the continuing challenges they’ve faced as returning citizens, the transformative power of education ‘behind the wall’ and their efforts at redemption and restorative justice.

Finally, we will hear what we are doing to help as a community with Partakers and GBIO—and can do more of—to make a difference.

The program will be introduced by TBE member Alan Solomont, Dean Emeritus of Tufts University’s Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life. The panel discussion and Q&A will be moderated by Dr. Hilary Binda, Founding Director for the Prison Initiative at Tisch College in the Tufts University, and Joseph Irrizary, returned citizen and College Behind Bars participant.
