About Charlie
As the middle child of five siblings, it’s finally my turn to be a bar mitzvah! I’m so excited to share this special moment with all my family and friends as I take this big step into adulthood in the Jewish tradition. Next stop… Charlie Cohen is voting and driving!I live in Newton Highlands with my family and our dog, Scout. My dad, Jeff, is a professor at Boston College. My “Mum” is originally from Australia (they spell it funny down there!) and runs a yoga studio. My oldest brother, Sam, is away at college and is one of my favorite people to jump on the trampoline with when he’s home. My sister, Grace, goes to Gann Academy and yells a lot because she’s the only girl! My younger brothers, Jack and Henry, love to wrestle me and always keep things lively (although Henry drives us all crazy by playing piano at dawn every day which is super annoying). All the kids in our neighborhood go to Oak Hill, and social studies is my favorite subject. I hope to go to Gann like my older siblings. One of the best things about where we live is how many kids are always around—half the time, when you look out our back window, you’ll see neighbors on our trampoline or groups of kids heading down to Hyde Park.

I love sports—soccer, football, tennis, and especially baseball. I recently started umpiring Little League games and I volunteer as a coach for a 4-year-old baseball team. My parents tried to get me into things like guitar and art, but I’m really just a sports guy. PE is definitely the best part of the school day!

Learning my Torah portion was a big accomplishment, and I’m proud that I practiced every day. I’m especially grateful to my amazing tutor, Anne Kalis, and to all the rabbis and cantors who supported me along the way.

About Graham
Dear TBE Community, My name is Graham Davidson and I am a 7th grader at the Runkle School in Brookline. I am the only boy living in a house with 5 sisters. I have two older sisters, Kate and Liv, who are in college. I have 3 younger sisters, Mikaela (10), Maddie (6) and Zara (4). We have 2 dogs, Casey and Harley, and a cat named Bella.

I am a saber fencer and love competing in fencing competitions. I love music—I play the saxophone, piano, and guitar. I am looking forward to becoming a bar mitzvah because it means that I am now a full member of the Jewish community. My favorite volunteer opportunity as part of my bar mitzvah preparation was helping at the Special Olympics. I really liked all of the people that I met through that activity.
