About Cooper
Hi everyone, I’m Cooper McFarland. Playing sports keeps me alive. I play basketball, football, soccer and track. One of my favorites is soccer, I play travel soccer for Newton. Playing soccer is a fun way for me to let my energy out, and have a good time with my teammates.

I feel very lucky to have found an amazing camp to go to. I go to Camp Tevya.  When I started, I knew nobody. Now, those kids are some of my best friends and I love hanging out with them. I also learned lots of new things at camp. For example, I got to try water skiing!

I am the middle child in my family. I have a 15 year old brother, Sam, and a 10 year old sister, Brooke. I also love our brown labradoodle named Gus who  can’t wait to play fetch and is always happy to see me. I live with my parents Mike and Cheryl in Newton. I go to Oak Hill middle school. One of my favorite classes is math. I like math because it is straightforward and is very useful in other activities. Not to mention that I have some of my friends in that class too.

Becoming a bar mitzvah means that I am a Jewish adult and that I can take my religion more seriously. Becoming a Jewish adult goes with responsibility and leadership. I hope I can be a good leader to my younger sister, just like my brother was for me.

For my bar mitzvah project, I helped deliver food to those in need from the TBE Table Program. During this project, I realized how lucky my family is to have enough nutritious food to eat every day. I also realized we should be grateful for everything that we have. Giving healthy meals to people might make us want to rethink not eating our vegetables.
