Prayer in Translation: Remixing Psalm 96 (Summer Institute | In Person)
- Friday, July 11, 2025
- 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
- Join us in person
- Program Leader: Dr. Christopher Doty

The poetry of Jewish prayer invites us to find our own voices within ancient words. In this interactive class with Dr. Christopher Doty, we’ll explore Psalm 96, a cosmic song of praise from the Kabbalat Shabbat service. Together, we’ll unpack the Hebrew text, compare translations across Jewish communities, and then create our own translations, bringing our personal, cultural, theological, and emotional selves into conversation with the liturgy. No Hebrew knowledge required—just an open heart and a curious mind!
