About Laney
Dear TBE Community,
My name is Laney Cohen, and I am an avid reader and pop music fan. On weekdays, you will find me running laps on the track with friends; the 4×100 relay is my favorite event. I live with my parents, Wendy and Jason Cohen, my 14-year-old brother, Eli, and my two 5-year-old cats, Brady and Jewels. They are named after the former Patriots players, Tom Brady and Julian Edelman.
I am a 7th grader at Brown Middle School in Newton, MA. I enjoy most subjects at school, but because I love to read and write, English is my favorite. Jewish summer camp is another favorite of mine. Every summer I attend Grossman Camp and Crane Lake Camp. It is amazing to spend time with a whole community of Jewish kids and counselors.
Becoming a bat mitzvah is important to me because it means that I have more responsibilities as a Jewish adult. Through Ma’asim Tovim, a volunteering experience at Temple, I volunteered at Cradles to Crayons. Cradles to Crayons is a non-profit organization providing clothes and school supplies for children in need. It is rewarding to volunteer there because I know I am making a difference. I am excited to continue volunteering with TBE as a Jewish adult and encourage everyone to join me!
