Our Mincha Ma’ariv service includes the celebration of the B’Mitzvah of Jacob Balter and Myles Marcus.
Dear TBE Community,
My name is Jake Balter. I am a seventh grader at Wellesley Middle School, where art is my favorite subject. I live with my parents Laura and Brad, my 16 year old sister Sophie, and my 7 year old brother Aden. We also have two Australian cattle dogs and a cat! I just recently started to enjoy playing the guitar, and I also like to play squash, soccer, and swim. As I’m writing this, I haven’t selected an official service project yet, but I like to volunteer at Cradles to Crayons with my family and have also made meals for families at Family Promise. Preparing for my Bar Mitzvah has been really challenging but it makes me feel proud.
Dear TBE Community. My name is Myles Marcus. I live in Needham with my Mom, Dad and sister, Lexi. We also have a dog named Neiman who I love very much! I am a 7th grader at Pollard Middle School. My favorite subject is Math. I have always been very good at it. My favorite sport is hockey. I have been playing since I was 4 years old. I love the game and being part of a team is what I enjoy most about it.
Becoming a Bar Mitzvah is a huge milestone in my life. I’m looking forward to becoming a Jewish adult and I am ready for all the responsibilities that come along with it. I know I will carry on all the traditions I have been taught to future generations. For my bar mitzvah project, I helped make a desk for Desk Mates. Desk Mates was launched in 2021 to provide young students with desks to set up a study space at home during COVID. My dad and I had so much fun building the desk. It is a memory I will have forever.
