About Lila
Greetings, Hi TBE community!
My name is Lila Stern. I am in the seventh grade at The Rashi School. My favorite classes are English and Social Studies. I have always loved to write, both in and out of school. In my free time, I love playing soccer and basketball, drawing, and spending time with my family and friends. I have played competitive soccer for my school, club, and travel teams for as long as I can remember. I absolutely love it! I have two sisters—my older sister is Sasha who is 15 years old and my younger sister is Clara who is 7 years old. I also live with my mom Jeannie, my dad Craig, and (our third) hamster—this one’s name is Cookie.

Becoming a Bat Mitzvah has always been an event to which I have looked forward. I cannot believe the time has finally come and I am so excited to become a Jewish woman. It is amazing that I will be standing on the bima soon performing a ritual that has been passed down through my family and ancestors for generations.
Ever since I was very young, I have been concerned about people not having enough food to eat. For my Bat Mitzvah project, I have been stocking the Freedge in Newton with all kinds of nutritious food. I go there twice a week to fill up the Freedge. I love being able to make a difference in the lives of people in my community who may be going through a challenging time. I am proud of where I live for creating this opportunity for neighbors to support and take care of one another. I know that me and my family will continue to fill the Freedge for years to come.
I hope everyone has a healthy and happy 2022!
