Let My People Read Campaign (Online)

The Passover story is one of oppression and liberation. In the US today, there is a new wave of oppression, book bans in school libraries, and teachers forbidden to speak about racial justice and Black history. Now through May 24th, TBE joins JALSA (Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action) in the Let My People Read fundraiser to purchase books for students and families in Tulsa, OK, which has enacted these restrictions on access to books and learning. It took close to 100 years for there to be a reckoning of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, and yet today, Tulsa is once again denying its atrocious race riot that murdered hundreds; burned 1,250 homes; decimated the thriving commerce center, Black Wall Street; and the internment of 6,000 residents for up to six months’ time. Please join CASA, Racial Justice Initiative, TBElle, Lunch & Learn, and the Religious School in the Let My People Read campaign.

This event is sponsored by TBE’s Racial Justice Initiative, which works to increase our understanding and activism to address ongoing discrimination and inequality.
