Gan Elohim Parent Coffee | Kalaniyot (In Person)

Each spring in Israel, following the rain, carpets of Kalaniyot (anemones) bloom in the Western Negev. The residents of this area, which borders the Gaza strip, host a yearly festival called ‘Darom Adom’ (red south), inviting visitors to the fields surrounding their towns and kibbutzim.

In the wake of the horrors of the October 7th attacks, installations of ceramic Kalaniyot have been placed all across Israel, from town centers to hospitals, to the sites where the October 7th horrors took place. To date, the project’s vision of 100,000 handmade anemones has been exceeded, and these fields of handmade Kalaniyot continue to grow and spread across Israel and Jewish communities around the world.

At TBE, we are joining in this worldwide effort, creating our own installation. We hope that this will serve as a way for our community to process not only the events of October 7th, but also the ways in which the events of October 7th have made their mark on our lives.

Each classroom is set up to encourage exploration and to support immersion into the learning process. Teachers lead this process through their attentive, nurturing programs and by including children’s ideas into the curriculum.  We foster positive self-esteem, kindness and confidence, critical building blocks of development. We value our children, and strive to make them feel secure as they grow both emotionally and academically.  We welcome children of all faiths and ethnic groups.
