TGIS Service (Hybrid)

Join us for Thank God It’s Shabbat (TGIS) Service, a multi-generational experience to sing, pray, and learn together in a less formal worship environment. Experience the joy and fulfillment of Shabbat by engaging in meaningful, musical worship. Share this event with your friends and family.  All are welcome to participate!

Our tradition teaches that every Jew should have a Jewish name, for “A good name is preferable to great riches” (Proverbs 22:1). These names are used at sacred and special moments in the Jewish life cycle, such as baby namings, b’mitzvah, weddings, and funerals, and here in our community at TBE. Receiving a Jewish name is also an affirming part of creating a Jewish identity. Helping our children create their Jewish identities is one of our defining purposes as parents and Jewish teachers. The clergy will formally recognize this important occasion during our TGIS Shabbat services by calling families to the bimah to recite a special blessing and present a naming certificate.
