Hello fellow TBE members, I am Lia Silva, a rising eighth grade student at Carroll Middle School in Lincoln Massachusetts. I live in Weston with my mom, Susan Correa, her partner kate, my sister Sofia, and my cat named Foo.
With all the marches and protests going around in Boston for the Black Lives Matter movement, it really got me thinking, “I want to do something to help.” The Racial Justice Restorative Havdalah Service & Call to Action that Mimi Gotbetter organized at TBE for Black Lives Matter inspired me to involve the TBE community in my efforts. So I developed an organization called Bridges For Change. For the upcoming Saturdays and Sundays through the end of August, stand with Black Lives Matter with me and other members of the TBE community by bringing a sign to a bridge over I-95. We chose bridges because they will situate us on top of a big highway where lots of people will see us. Visibility is key because it will bring more awareness, which is our goal! Also, because we will not be moving it will make it a lot easier to be socially distance and safe.
I encourage you all to come and join me in this peaceful, safe organization. We are planning on meeting for the next five Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM to 3:45 PM. If you choose to come, please bring a mask and remember to stay socially distant! If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me.
