TBE’s Community Voice

Dear TBE Community,

It’s hard to believe that another holiday season is upon us, especially as the heat bears down on us in the waning days of summer. And yet, here we are again, called to look inward and begin the year anew.

One of our sages of the Talmud, Ben Bag-Bag, said: “Turn it and turn it, for everything is in it; see through it; grow old and worn in it; do not budge from it, for there is nothing that works better than it.” This wisdom applies in equal measure to our community as it does to Torah and the Jewish tradition. This charge is not simply about awareness. It is a call to engage deeply with it, to wrestle with it, and to remake it each year.

At TBE, our paths to shalom are paved with the Jewish tradition we hold dear and the people in our community we meet on the journey. The High Holy Days are our chance to do this in sacred community. As the left side of the page in our siddur (prayer book) says: “That there is no way to get from here to there except by joining hands, marking together.”

There are many ways to begin your path on the High Holy Days: to reflect, renew, and reengage with TBE and the world around us—and to do it together. I invite you to explore the opportunities that will be most meaningful for you.

May the year 5786 be one during which all our paths lead to shalom (wholeness).

L’shanah tovah & happy New Year,

Danny Navisky President
