TBE’s Community Voice

When many of us think of the Caring Community, we recall the ways in which TBE was there for us following a loss or during an illness or when we were welcoming a new child. The Caring Community brings us comfort and support during challenging times and perhaps most of all, the awareness that if we are in need, fellow TBE members are there.

What many may not know is that for a small, growing and always welcoming group of us, the Caring Community offers something more: the opportunity to balance, stretch and strengthen our bodies and souls. Our Wednesday morning yoga class, offered by the Caring Community and sustained by the hard work of Cantor Jodi Sufrin and Carolyn Kohlman, combines good humor, spirituality and friendship in our sacred space.

If you are new to yoga or tried it once and concluded it wasn’t for you or are in search of a new class and teacher, we encourage you to join us on a Wednesday morning.  Although it was not designed this way and others are surely welcome, we are a group of women of a certain age. Our aches and pains accompany us to class, but for an hour or so, they move to the background as our sweet and good-humored teacher, Jeannie, guides us through gentle movements. Our downward dogs and warrior poses become sanctified as we look out at the wetlands next to the temple or hear the laughter of the preschool children next door.
