In many ways, my story of the past several months has been the same story it has always been. It is a story of reaching out to support every member of my family in whatever ways I can, contributing to my community in whatever ways I can be of service, and filling my personal time with the things and the people that bring me relaxation and joy. The difference is that the options for carrying out these goals have changed immeasurably because of COVID. The challenge is to always be a self-starter in a situation where the physical presence of others temporarily can not serve as an inspiration or a spur to action. The joy is everywhere – in the love and caring of our family and friends, in the satisfaction of continuing to serve a community which needs help in so many ways, and in the calm that comes from reading more books, tending to our new garden, joining TBE services more regularly, and exploring other new interests we’ve added to our life.
