I think what I can learn from my own story over the past several months is probably something I already knew but became re-emphasized: The unexpected is always with you. I realize again that life is a series of unexpected events – some good and some challenging. The key is to not look at challenges as barriers but as waves to adapt to and ride. I think I am more resilient than I expected but that I am not an island and I need the support of community – family, friends, colleagues. I also have learned mindfulness which has certainly helped me adapt and stay grounded.
