David Sharir

This limited edition serigraph by David Sharir is an artistic representation of the Book of Jonah. The Book of Jonah tells the story of a prophet who is sent by God to foretell the destruction of a city, but tries to escape his mission. David Sharir uses the serigraph to retell the story quite concretely. Sharir was born in the 1938 and studied in Tel Aviv, Florence, and Rome. His work is was also influenced by Russian folk art, biblical study, and his experience with theatre design. The vivid nature of his paintings shows his joie de vivre, passion for life, as well as an unequivocal love for the Judaic and Israeli traditions.
