The TBE Blog

This July, variable speed fans were installed in the HVAC system for the sanctuary and the social hall replacing fans that switched only on and off. The change is an energy efficiency measure which is estimated to save $5,000 per year in TBE’s electricity bills.

The new fans are quieter and will maintain more even and precise temperatures and air pressures. They also will be more responsive to temperature changes because they are connected to carbon dioxide sensors which measure the number of people present in the rooms.

The fan system was designed by Gary Elovitz and the fans were installed by Bill Luce. Craig Berkson and Emily Kosinski were in charge of managing the fan replacement project.

We are grateful for all their efforts in making this happen.

The fan replacements are a goal of the TBE Green Team. The change will bring TBE’s energy efficiency and renewable energy savings to approximately 30% per year over the costs of six years ago.
