Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) affects parents and grandparents in a variety of significant and important ways. SEL is usually thought of in educational settings, yet its principles and benefits extend across all age groups, including older adults.
Understanding the concepts of SEL is beneficial to parents and grandparents by enhancing family relationships, equipping them with solid communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.
We will learn, practice, and discuss many of the skills and terms (grit, empathy, self worth, etc.) that children learn in school and how they relate to the family unit.
This course follows a sequential structure, and participants are encouraged to attend all sessions. However, drop-ins are welcome at any point during the course. If you have any questions regarding participation, please contact the program leader.
Dates: Tuesdays, October 8, 15, 22 & 29
