- Program Leader: Abi Oshins
Calling all Torah lovers and art enthusiasts! Mixed Media Midrash will gather to explore the weekly Torah portion through text study, creative interpretation, and community. Each week, using materials at home, we’ll come together to ask how visual creation can help us understand our sacred text and ourselves. No previous art or Torah experience is required–just a pension for curiosity and a heart open to creativity. Abi Oshins, TBE member and teacher and rabbinic student at Hebrew College, leads this workshop empowering us to connect to and explore Torah through art.
Dates: Thursdays, July 15, 22, 29, August 5

About Abi Oshins: Abi Oshins, a rising second year Rabbinical student at Hebrew College in Newton, has been teaching in formal and informal settings for the better part of the last decade. A proud camp alumna, Abi spent 7 summers working at URJ Eisner Camp and 2 summers at URJ Creative Arts Academy, helping to shape the next generation of Jewish campers and staff. She received a Bachelors in English Education with a Minor in Theater from the Boston University Wheelock School of Education in 2015, where she developed a passion for project-based learning. Abi has taught teens and young adults at Temple Beth Elohim and Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, developing curricula that draw on community and relationship building, Jewish text and values, and hands-on creative modalities. She brings with her a passion for Torah, having spent two years apprenticing under renowned teacher of text Rabbi Alan Ullman. Abi is thrilled to be teaching and learning at her spiritual home, Temple Beth Elohim.
