Passover Shuk Celebrating Freedom & Justice
- Sunday, March 29
- 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
The T’filah Committee and Racial Justice Initiative are teaming up to bring you Shopping with a Purpose!
On Passover, the festival of freedom, we celebrate the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and redemption from slavery. Our seder reminds us of those who continue to fight for their freedom, those who still suffer from a history of slavery and oppression, and our responsibility to work toward justice and equality today.
This year, our Passover shuk will offer the opportunity to not only shop for traditional Judaica items and Kosher-for-Passover foods, it will also feature specialty gift items from local independently owned black businesses. The black-owned business vendors come to TBE through incubator organizations such as Commonwealth Kitchen and Black Market, Dudley, who help aspiring entrepreneurs build great companies.
In the words of Bryan Stevenson, “the opposite of poverty isn’t wealth but justice,” and we are committed to confronting our nation’s history of racial inequality, including the significant wealth gap between white and African Americans. Take advantage of this opportunity to buy gifts for hostesses, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, birthdays, and anniversaries!
Vendors include: Natasha’s Handmade Organic Body Butter, Fusion Multicultural Dolls, Kolbo Fine Judaica, B. Royal Boutique, Galit’s Treats, Hillside Harvest, and Marty’s Fine Wines. Full list of vendors coming soon!
