Music Club: Country and Western
- Tuesday, February 25
- 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM
- Program Leader: Marty Sleeper
COUNTRY AND WESTERN: IT’S AMERICAN MUSIC. In 1950, country and western songs, with stars like The Carter Family, Hank Williams and the Grand Old Opry, dominated popular music on radio, jukeboxes, and both record and sheet music sales. Join Marty Sleeper on 2/25 as he plays the music as it was brought to life in the 1930’s and 40’s, continued to achieve national attention in the 1950’s, produced new stars in the 1960’s and 70’s and left a legacy with major impact on rock and roll, folk music and the sounds of America.
Music lovers unite to learn more about music we know, discover new music, and enjoy a community of friends with musical interests. The Music Club generally meets one Tuesday each month.
