Lunch & Learn: Charter Schools with TBE Online
- Tuesday, March 9
- 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM
- Program Leader: Lina Musayev
Join Lina Musayev as she discusses charter public schools as an important part of Massachusetts’ public school system. As a community made up of over 74 charter public schools in the Commonwealth, they currently prepare over 43,000 students for the future with the belief that all kids should be given every opportunity to reach their full potential. There is still much confusion about what is a charter public school even though they have been around in MA for 26 years. This session will get you the facts, share what they are, how their models are unique, who they serve, what are the myths, and much more.
Lina Musayev is the Managing Director of the Capacity Building Network, at the MA Charter Public School Association. She is responsible for leading statewide school support initiatives such as the New Charter School Leader Program, supporting charter school board members with best practices around board governance, as well as professional development on special education, english learners, school culture, finance and operations, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Prior to joining the Association, she served as the Associate Director of Strategy and Growth at Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy in Rhode Island where she led the opening of a high school and the replication of an elementary school. She also served as a Manager at Deloitte Consulting. Lina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Communication from George Washington University, a Master in Public Administration from George Washington University, and a Master in Education from the Broad Center for the Management of School Systems. She is originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, is a member of TBE, and is living in Wellesley with her husband, two daughters, and her dog.
