Embodied Practice: Letting Text Move Us (In Person)

Jews are called the ivrim, the ones who traverse, the ones who move. In this session, we will explore texts about leaving home, moving, and finding home—all through movement. Deriving inspiration from Gaga and theater movement techniques, this three part series is meant to help participants connect to their physical and spiritual selves, connect to each other, and connect to holiness. Gaga is a movement style created by Jewish Israeli dancer/choreographer Ohad Naharin (known for his work with Batsheva Dance Company). Through guided prompts, we will explore imagination, discover playfulness, and enjoy the pleasure of movement.

Please come dressed in comfortable clothing that you can move in. We will explore movement without shoes (socks or barefoot are both okay). No prior movement experience necessary!

This course is part of our Summer Institute adult learning program. Learn more about Summer Institute.

Dates: Thursdays, June 9, 16, 23, 12:00 pm
