- Toddler to Teen
Jew Man Group Grade 10
- Monday, March 16
- 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM
- Program Leader: Devon Barker
Take a break from homework and the stresses of everyday life in our safe, welcoming and fun gender-based programming for an hour and a half each month. Together in grade-based groups we will have the opportunity to eat dinner, spend time connecting with and supporting our friends, and figure out how to navigate the journey and challenges of growing up as a Jewish American teen. Each session will be guided by the interests of the group but will explore topics through activities, discussions, popular culture and media, games, arts and crafts, Jewish values and more. All groups meet in small cohorts and are open to new and returning members.
We welcome teens who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid, or gender questioning to participate fully in our Jew Man Group or Challah Back Girls Groups, in whichever program they feel most comfortable! Feel free to approach us for a safe and confidential conversation. In addition, teens who are interested in participating in an online group specifically for teens who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender fluid, or gender questioning can learn more here.
Meets: Mondays, 7:30 – 9:00 PM: 10/7/19, 11/18/19, 12/9/19, 1/13/20, 2/10/20, 3/16/20, 4/13/20 (Havayah Seder), 5/11/20
Havayah (Hebrew for “experience”) is Temple Beth Elohim’s Teen Community for Grades 8-12. Havayah is a safe, welcoming and supportive Jewish community where teens are empowered as learners and leaders by one another and by caring, dedicated clergy and faculty who serve as positive, accessible Jewish role models. Havayah is the umbrella community that provides many options for teen engagement and we warmly encourage participants to choose their own meaningful path in TBE’s vibrant youth community and/or engagement in the broader Jewish community. Our Havayah team is here to help each teen design the Jewish experience that will work best for them.
