- Thursday, October 14
- 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
- Program Leader: Elliot Schildkrout & Marvin Israelow
THIS CLASS IS FULL.
An introduction: Through readings, text study, meditation, and group discussion, we will consider the many dimensions of aging. Open to men who are transitioning or have retired.
Facilitated by Marvin Israelow and Elliot Schildkrout, the program will explore in a deeply personal way, this unique transitional time of our lives. Open to men who are transitioning or have retired, we will consider through readings, text study, meditation, and group discussion, the many dimensions of aging.
We will use the curriculum developed by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal in their book, “Wise Aging—Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit.” Referred to as the Third Stage in our lives we deal with identity transition, family and communal change, and the reality of impermanence for ourselves and our loved ones. This time also offers us an expanding opportunity for increasing emotional openness and spiritual awareness as well as an appreciation of our Jewish heritage and the power of spiritual community.
This highly interactive program will open the door for lifelong practice to give these years their fullest bounty. We will begin with three sessions, giving participants a taste of the program, and continue with another six sessions for those who want to continue. These Introduction classes are a pre-requisite to the continuing classes. Class size is limited to 10 participants.
Dates: Thursdays, Sep 30, Oct 14 & 28
