Israel Current Event Program (ICEP)

- Program Leader: Dana Soffer Scetbun, Chief Superintendent, Israel National Police (INP) and Erez Engel, Department head in the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office
The program will focus on conversation surrounding social challenges in the Israeli Civil Service to develop better insights and understanding of the interworking of the Israeli government processes. Leading and initiating the conversation will be the two Wexner fellows, Dana Soffer Scetbun and Erez Engel.
Dana Soffer Scetbun, Chief Superintendent, serves as Chief Planning Officer of the Central District, the largest District in the Israel National Police (INP). Dana oversees resource allocation in the District, including budget management, personnel planning, new units’ organizational structures and workflow improvement. She joined the INP in 1995 and has held several planning posts, including budget planning, organization planning and leading a data analysis unit. Dana holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration and an MBA, both from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She has served in the Israeli Mission to the UN in Geneva. She lives in Mevaseret Zion near Jerusalem with her husband and two daughters.
Erez Engel is a department head in the Prime Minister’s Office that focuses on particularly challenging aspects of Israel’s national security. Over the past 15 years, he has held various management positions, including heading a strategic planning department and training unit. Throughout his service, Erez has contributed significantly to major projects. He and his teams have received multiple recognition awards and various Director’s Award. In addition to his work, he volunteers with Holocaust survivors. Erez holds a BA from the Honors Program and a BS in Computer Science, both from Haifa University. He is married and the father of three.
