Confronting the History of Housing Discrimination
- Wednesday, May 27
- 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
This two-session interactive educational workshop, Confronting the History of Housing Discrimination: Learning from Our Past, Taking Action Now, is developed by TBE’s Racial Justice Initiative in partnership with JALSA and will:
- Explore racial housing disparities in Massachusetts
- Introduce us to the history the created these inequities
- Empower us with the tools to make a difference in our own community moving forward
Specifically, we will focus on the unique role that zoning reform and affordable housing can have in addressing racial disparity. We will also learn more about community organizing, the Boston Jewish community’s housing history, and the powerful voice our Jewish values provide us when working on this.
The first session is 5/17/2020, 2:00-3:30 pm. The second session is 5/27/2020, 7:00-8:30 pm.
TBE’s Racial Justice Initiative (RJI) is committed to deepening our understanding of how racism impacts our economic, social, and justice systems, and working together to address these racial inequities.
JALSA, the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, is devoted to engaging the community in promoting civil rights, protecting civil liberties and achieving social, economic, environmental, and racial justice.
