- Program Leader: Dr. Judy Avnery
Led by Dr. Judy Avnery, together we will examine and engage in Israeli poetry that reflects the story of revival to the changes and challenges in Israeli society through the decades. Israeli poets often saw themselves as the voice of consciousness, addressing issues such as war ethics, social justice and poverty. The group of poets chosen for this class, collectively, represent the various generations that comprise contemporary Israeli poetry. Knowledge of Hebrew is a plus but not needed to participate in this class. Attending all classes is recommended; although each class will have a new set of poems so drop-ins are welcome.
Dates: January 19, February 23, March 16, April 27, June 1
