Babson Financial Literacy Project Information Meeting
- Tuesday, December 10
- 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
The Babson Financial Literacy Project (BFLP) teaches important financial lessons to young adults. Officially launched in November 2018, BFLP has served more than 500 people to date and has developed relationships with the Boston Public Library, City Year, Boston Public Schools, Wellesley College, Mass Bay Community College, and we are growing rapidly across nonprofits and colleges in Massachusetts. If you are interested in learning more about our program or being trained to run workshops designed to help young adults acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for lifelong financial prosperity and independence, please join our informational meeting.
There is an urgent need to address the financial literacy crisis in Massachusetts. Roughly half of U.S. adults claim that financial stress affects their ability to do their jobs, cannot cover an emergency expense of $400, and have no retirement savings. Further, student debt is at all-time-high of $1.5 trillion. There is no personal finance education in MA schools, and adults are woefully unprepared to make sound decisions about their financial futures. The BFLP is a nonprofit that relies on community volunteers to teach important financial lessons to improve the outlook for the next generation.
