Dissent in the Jewish Tradition: From the Talmud to Today with TBE Online

  • Wednesday, May 12
  • 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Register
  • Program Leader: Rabbi Emily Langowitz

Join Rabbi Emily Langowitz as she introduces us to Jewish texts, history, and personalities (ancient and new) that provide models (or perhaps, cautionary tales) for us as modern Jews seeking to navigate increasingly polarized personal and civil dialogue. Each week we will begin with a classical text which invokes a Jewish principle of debate. From there, we will expand our lens: how does this principle show up throughout Jewish history? What are some present-day examples that might feel relevant? And, most importantly, how do we, as individuals, bring ourselves into conversation with all of these texts and ideas to create more positive environments for richer discourse?

Class Dates: April 21, 28, May 5, 12
