COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT | REPAIR THE WORLD | SOCIAL ACTION
Family Social Action Group (FSAG)
Let’s open up our children’s eyes… and help make them into mensches!
Mission
The Family Social Action Group (FSAG) organizes meaningful volunteer opportunities for families with children in Kindergarten through grade 5. Younger and older siblings welcome, too!
Work side by side with your children and model caring about and helping others in the Greater Boston community. Show them how they can make a difference! It is also a wonderful way to connect with other TBE families.
Ongoing Opportunities
Since the beginning of the COVID crisis, the Centre Street Food Pantry (located in Newton Center) has seen demand more than double, as parents struggle to put food on the table for their kids. They are looking for help creating and donating bags of food filled with foods that kids love, and looking to collect 250 bags during October. The project is simple:
1. Fill a Bag: Fill a brown-handled shopping bag (double bag please) with these items. Families can pack bags on their own, or together outdoors, and this is a great opportunity to discuss food insecurity with kids!
2. Drop Off: Bags should be dropped off outside at the Pantry (11 Homer Street, Newton Center, enter on Furber Lane) at designated times, or you can schedule another drop off time. Click here for information on drop-offs.
