Religious Practices

"Religious Practices" is the historical name for a lay committee that works closely with our clergy on a wide variety of matters related to the worship aspects of life at Temple Beth Elohim.  We now call ourselves the "Tefillah" (prayer, worship) Committee. Our activities consist of a combination of study and service. For example, in 2005-06, we studied various prayer books in order to recommend a new prayer book for our congregation.  We have helped to restructure and revitalize the Temple's observance of festivals, including Tu B'shevat, Sukkot and Shavuot. We will be focusing next year on the sanctuary and prayer aspects of our new building. We also support the clergy on activities that relate to and/or enhance worship services, including greeters, Oneg Shabbats, Shabbat and holiday dinners, service times, High Holy Day ticket policies, funeral policy, and the like.
