TBElle Music Club

Welcome to the TBElle Music Club!

Art Gerstenfeld, facilitator of the vastly popular TBElle "Music Around The World" music class, has initiated the TBElle Music Club. Our objective is to learn more about music we know, to be introduced to some new music, and to enjoy the community of friends with similar musical interests.  Prior to each meeting we will listen to one or more works of a composer or performer and read about that composer or genre of music. One or more class members will act as facilitator. At the end of each meeting we will select a different composer or performer for the next meeting. Come join us!

For additional information please contact Art Gerstenfeld, [email protected] or (617) 852-5748.

BEETHOVEN'S TRIO OPUS 87 and the Me2 ORCHESTRA, facilitated by Janet Yardley

Tuesday, April 24, 1:30-3:00 pm

We will look at and listen to Beethoven's Trio Opus 87.  We will experience a live performance with Janet Yardley on Oboe, Bob Crabtree on Clarinet and Howard Katz on Cello.  There will be a didactic presentation about the piece and discussion of the piece and of the Me2 Orchestra, a stigma free zone for people with mental illness and those who support them.  All three musicians are members of this remarkable orchestra in Boston.

RSVP and QUESTIONS to Art Gerstenfeld or (617) 852-5748.

ROCK & ROLL, music and discussion led by Marty Sleeper

Tuesday, May 22, 1:30-3:00 pm

"Hail, hail rock and roll!"  The presentation will be about the history of Rock and Roll from its pre-Elvis years to the Beatles, highlighting the ways in which its music and performers built the teenage culture of the 1950's that at least some of us remember and were part of.

RSVP and QUESTIONS to Art Gerstenfeld or (617) 852-5748.

OPERA, Music and discussion led by Heidi Vernon

Tuesday, June 19, 1:30-3:00 pm

We are going to take a lightening tour through opera with great thanks to Don Drourr and his expert graphics.  We will visit early opera characterized by countertenor performance, then a walking tour of the Verona, Italy Roman amphitheater and its opera.  Finally, we bask in the sound of Pavarotti in the 4th act of La Boheme.
