New and Nearly Empty Nesters

Do you have children who are nearing the end of their high school days? Or heading off to college, grad school, or their first jobs? If you are, then TBE's New and Nearly Empty Nesters is the group for you!

This period for us, this transitional life stage, is one in which we can re-connect with the TBE community, and connect with one another in new and meaningful ways. New and Nearly Empty Nesters seeks to foster these connections through regular Shabbat dinners, lectures from timely and relevant guest speakers and social opportunities with other TBE members who are learning to live with empty (or soon-to-be) empty nests.

We Will Not Be Silent
Saturday, November 3, 8:00 PM

Risking everything to stand up for social justice, German college student Sophie Scholl courageously led a major act of civil disobedience against Hitler and his fascist regime. Scholl’s moral strength is tested while being interrogated for her crimes, leading her to question whether to save her own life or continue her righteous crusade. Based on true events, We Will Not Be Silent is a provocative and timely new work that examines the role of ordinary people in extraordinary times.

Sunday, November 11, 7:00 PM

Nahman Ruzumni exists on the periphery of Israel’s ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak. His job—coaching poor men on how to tell stories to elicit cash handouts—blurs the line between disreputable and altruistic. When his wife suddenly leaves him, he has no choice but to bring his nine-year-old daughter with him as he drives his clients from house to house. Nahman finds himself sharing his strange, unconventional world and learning to tell a different kind of story—his own.

Join us before the film for dinner!
