TBE’s Community Voice

We have heard a lot of exciting things about Gan Elohim recently. Full days! Toddlers! It’s so nice that TBE has been able to respond to the needs of parents as our community grows.

For those of us who were nursery school parents back in the days of “TBENS” in the old building, we have fond memories of the Red, Yellow, Blue and Green Rooms. We remember the days of rushing back for pick up at 11:45 am and partnering with a friend to go in and get the preschool kids while someone stayed with the sleeping babies in the cars.

A lot of us found our community at TBE through the nursery school and now that our kids are older, we sometimes find ourselves longing for the warmth of those days. We recently held a parent reunion for the cohort whose kids are college aged and beyond.  It was so nice to see familiar faces and to catch up on what we have all been up to since those days!

Those of us who gathered talked about the feelings of caring and sense of community we have carried with us from that special time and how the friendships we made back then have lasted through the years. There is just something about the friends who supported you through the mess and chaos of parenting through the preschool years that makes them the ones you turn to when those adorable preschoolers become amazing (and complex) young adults.

We are looking forward to finding other ways to reconnect TBE nursery school parent alums. Be in touch if you would like to take part: Wendy Hurwitz or Judy Zimmerman.
