Surviving October 7th and Life After (Hybrid)

Eyal Tarchitzky is a community organizer and educator with 20 years of experience working with some of Israel’s most marginalized populations. On October 7th, Eyal’s partner was trapped in their safe room with their baby in Sderot while terrorists roamed the streets outside their home. For the next three months, Eyal and his family lived as evacuees near the Dead Sea where he created Leadership Committees for other residents at evacuee centers/hotels and was responsible for Dror Israel’s emergency relief programming. Eyal is a leader in developing educational strategies for building social resilience.

Dror Israel is one of the largest grassroots organizations in Israel, comprising over 1,300 trained educators who live and work in the country’s most challenging neighborhoods. Our educators have extensive experience in establishing daycares and providing emotional-educational first aid programs for traumatized populations. Since October 7th, we have run programs and schools for 41,000 evacuees and communities under fire, as well as for more than 70,000 people from non-displaced communities.
